Golf apparel has gone green. It’s also gone to the darker side with skulls and bones and taken a trip to India for inspiration. While many of this year’s spring lines have included traditional seasonal pastels, designers have also unveiled designs that are brighter and bolder. Function continues to be key, and styles are anything but traditional. After all, if you can’t have fun with golf clothes, you’re in the wrong business designing for today’s golfers. Here’s a look at some of our favorite things that will put style into your game. Tattoo Golf For the young and rebellious at heart, Tattoo Golf has released its Trent Poly-Dri High Performance Polo ($42.99). With its skull and bones logo, golfers are loving the design and fabric, a micro-fiber knit that wicks away perspiration. tattoogolf.com. Ashworth When it comes to men’s shirts, Ashworth’s collection is a staple. This season they’ve returned with AWS Endurance polos ($65) that are weather resistant and breathable. Available in colorful stripes such as citrine and soft solids, the shirts are 100 percent polyester. ashworthinc.com. SandBaggers While some would wear flip-flops every day, that’s just not practical on the course. That’s why we love the Lori closed-toe sandal ($124.50). The open, strap-at-the-back design affords breathability, yet with SandBaggers’ built-in orthotic design, you also have a comfortable shoe that’s stylish. hersandbaggers.com. Pahr 72 Pahr 72 has gone retro, incorporating its signature argyle pattern into its Shotgun jacket ($60). The 100 percent polyester design features a ribbed and striped collar, wrist bands and waistband, two side pockets and two chest pockets. pahr72.com. Trigelle Three years into the women’s golf apparel industry, Trigelle is continuing its stride with its Mother Nature line. Designers have unveiled a flattering, slimming Bermuda short with just the right amount of stretch in white, sage, and navy blue ($88). The sweaters ($96) are made with a breathable, organic bamboo cotton blend that’s odor resistant, retains its color, and is easy to care for. The design features beautiful flowered embroidery and is available in navy blue and coral. trigelle.com. Ash City Thanks to apparel from companies like Ash City, golfers can now play in comfort while protecting the environment from harmful clothing manufacturing chemicals. Offered in both men’s and women’s lines, the Bamboo Knit Top ($42) features a comfortable off-set shoulder design and 50 percent polyester, 50 percent cotton fabric. ashcity.com. Alstyle Alstyle is introducing its Reebok PlayDry Sport Polo ($48.50-$59.50). The two-tone polo is 98 percent spandex, which means comfortable play. The waffle knit fabric is moisture-wicking and offers UV protection, a three-button placket and side-arm logo. alstyle.com. Sandy Elliott Active When Sandy Elliott Active was looking for inspiration for its spring line, the designers hit the streets. The fashion they found resulted in the pink camouflage jersey polo with shell buttons ($85). Also, Bermuda shorts are back this season, and Sandy Elliott’s “refined active” line features a khaki version ($85). Top off the ensemble with the bucket hat with tonal flower logo in khaki or white ($35). sandyelliottdesign.com. |
