PAHR is redefining golf apparel for a new generation.

BY ELI MILLERPublished: December, 2010

PAHR is pushing the envelope with its 2011 collections.

Doug Timmons, a veteran instructor and PGA professional, has happily spent much of the last 20 years in San Diego County showing children and teenagers just how cool golf can be. Early in his efforts to grow the game, Timmons noticed the disconnection between the clothing youngsters would wear to school and the apparel they’d don for the links.

“I didn’t see any golf apparel out there that a kid would go to school in,” he said.

That was one of the main reasons Timmons co-founded PAHR Fairway Essentials in 1998 with accomplished clothing designer Anthony Yamamoto.

“Golf needed a modern update,” said Timmons. “You shouldn’t need separate sections in your closet for everyday and golf clothing. You should feel confident and comfortable whether you’re on the course, at work or hanging out with friends.”

Athlete agent extraordinaire Steve Astephen came aboard in 2006 to help officially launch the PAHR brand, bringing along A-list athletes such as skateboarder Ryan Sheckler, BMX legend Dave Mirra and Supercross racer Jeremy McGrath.

Also joining the team in 2006 was Taylor Massey, an investor and accomplished amateur golfer from Virginia.

“Taylor has been vital in keeping PAHR moving forward and making sure the look is fresh and modern,” Timmons said.

For 2011, the Carlsbad-based company is continuing to expand with offerings broken down in three collections.

72 has runway style with fairway roots, with options that fit just as well on the course as they do at favorite nightspots. FE (Fairway Essentials) is fashion blended with function, featuring the highest-quality choices from golf’s lifestyle and performance sides. And the California Collection is designed for kicking it in comfort — wear it for a 9-hole twilight round or a backyard barbecue with your friends.

Fresh off launching a new logo as well as new apparel, PAHR has a new website slated to go live this month.
