He finished the day at even par 70 with four birdies and four bogeys.
Right now he rests at three over par for the tournament through the third round trailing tournament leaders Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowell by four strokes.
Hossler bogeyed No, 3, No. 6, No. 11 and No.13, but birdied two on the front nine and two on the back nine.
“It's still my goal, but I feel like I'm in contention to win the tournament; and I'm going to try and take advantage of it tomorrow,” Hossler said in a media briefing after his round.
Asked if he could win the Open in Sunday’s final round: “Absolutely. There's not a doubt in my mind. Got to go out there and do everything right mentally and physically, but it's definitely out there for me.”
