Former LPGA Tour Commissioner Carolyn Bivens caused a lot of grief, but it’s a shame she was the scapegoat for all of the organization’s ills. If there had been a marketable American that would have stepped up and played really well while the economy was hurting, then Bivens might still be on board.
The Presidents Cup is shaping up to be an American romp, regardless of whether San Diegan Phil Mickelson plays or not. There is a great mix of veterans (Kenny Perry, Steve Stricker) and young guns (Sean O’Hair, Anthony Kim) who can combine with Tiger Woods to overpower the International squad.
Speaking of Woods, count me on the bandwagon of those disgusted by his cussing, club-throwing antics. No matter how much the world’s No. 1 golfer wants to win, he should be held to the same standard as every other PGA Tour member and represent the game in the most gentlemanly manner.
