Open House-The Classic Club

The Classic Club has a brand-new clubhouse to complement its top-notch course.

By PAUL STERMANPublished: July, 2007

The Classic Club in Palm Desert is set to unveil its sparkling new three-story Tuscan-style clubhouse, featuring acclaimed chef Jimmy Schmidt's Rattlesnake restaurant - along with some pristine views of the golf course and surrounding mountains. The centerpiece of this Arnold Palmer-designed public facility, the clubhouse will also include a lounge, locker rooms, a snack bar and a full-service golf shop.

General manager Greg Rubino says he and his staff are beyond excited over the the 63,000-square-foot clubhouse, which will be open by August, although there will still be some finishing work done in the coming months.

"It is going to be a first-class facility all around, and it will set the standard for daily-fee facilities in Southern California," Rubino said. "We will finally have a clubhouse facility that matches our world-class golf course."

Spread across nearly 250 acres, the 18-hole, par-72 course features sculpted fairways, a variety of tee options and nearly 30 acres of lakes and streams. The Classic Club, which opened in October 2005, is the host site for the PGA Tour's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, which is held at four different courses over five days.  SG
