![]() The Classic Club was named the tournament's host course two years ago, meaning two rounds of the 90-hole tournament - including the final one - are played on the Palm Desert course designed by Arnold Palmer. Players and guests will notice a new look this year - on and off the course. A three-story, Tuscan Village-inspired clubhouse is opening November 12, and 10 of the 18 holes have received minor adjustments. "We've done fine the past couple of years having tents set up, but it will be nice to have a real clubhouse for guests and players," said Kathleen Bennett, the course's director of sales and marketing. The tweaks to the layout were made in response to feedback from PGA Tour players and the general public. The most noticeable change involves a new tee box on the eighth hole, which will serve as the tournaments' first hole. Other changes, such as raising the seventh green to keep balls from rolling into the water, were done with players in mind. "We moved some bunkers here, re-sloped a green there, but really the changes are the kind that unless you've played here many times, you wouldn't even notice," Bennett said. The new clubhouse will include a bar, restaurant, public meeting spaces and a member's lounge. For more information or to make a tee time, call (760) 601-3600 or visit classiclubgolf.com SG |
