![]() That dream came true when the city of San Clemente awarded Donaldson the lease to run the food and beverage operations at the remodeled clubhouse at San Clemente Municipal Golf Course, scheduled to open in early December. "It's going to be the greatest golf course restaurant in South Orange County," Donaldson said. The restaurant will be named Irons in the Fire, and Donaldson's plans include cocktail service for driving range patrons, holding banquets and weddings, and establishing a community center. The Spanish-style clubhouse will be located between the first and 10th tees and overlook the driving range and sixth green. Additional features include a fire pit, sunken bar and artwork depicting the Southern California lifestyle. Donaldson, who had a budget of $35,000 for furniture and fixtures, increased it to $90,000, with the additional money coming out of his pocket. "I am a lunatic for providing items that enhance an atmosphere," he said of the extra funds. "Also, I see this as the first step of making the dream of building a golf course come true." SG |
