Kevin Erdman, who was featured on the Golf Channel’s “Big Break,” was recently promoted to head PGA professional at Altadena. Through the end of summer, the course will hold Barbecue Days from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. Sign-ups for the 2010 Junior Golf Program have begun; spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly. Call the pro shop for a schedule.

Azusa Greens Country Club
Azusa
(626) 969-1727 • azusagreenscc.com
Renovated sand traps and a remodeled clubhouse have been a hit with golfers. The junior golf program continues at 5 p.m. every Tuesday, and weekday twilight rates are $28 after 1 p.m., $24 after 3 p.m. and $18 after 5 p.m. Sign up for the club’s e-mail list and receive great benefits, including a two-for-one coupon and a free birthday round (good for seven days either before or after birthday).

California Country Club
Whittier
(626) 968-4222 • golfccc.com
California Country Club has reduced its initiation fee to $2,000 for a two-year membership. The 6,804-yard William Bell-designed championship course has long been a favorite of Los Angeles area players. The challenging layout is ideal for competitive play, and the club has a few days available for outside tournaments. For more information about memberships, call (626) 333-4571.

Eaton Canyon Golf Course
Pasadena
(626) 794-6773 • dcgolf.info
Through the end of summer, Eaton Canyon will hold Barbecue Days from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. A Culinary Institute of America graduate has been hired to lead the afternoon events, which are designed to bring new flavors to the traditional happy hour fare. A new menu with a Southwestern theme also will be unveiled this month at the 10th Hole Bar and Grill. For weekly specials, check out Eaton Canyon’s website.
