DELGADO, COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS WIN CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Lucas Delgado of Sierra College in Rocklin and College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita won the individual and team titles at the California State Community Golf Championship on May 8 at The SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta.

Delgado, a freshman, fired rounds of 71-69 to finish four shots ahead of Damian Yi of College of the Canyons and Chris Satterlee of Santa Barbara.

College of the Canyons won the team competition by six shots. With the best five of six scores counting each round, College of the Canyons posted a 735, while Santa Barbara finished at 741, followed by Chabot College at 747.

It was the fourth team title for College of the Canyons. The school also won in 1993, 2000 and 2002.


SHERWOOD COUNTRY CLUB OPENS NEW LAKE CLUB
Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks recently opened the Lake Club, an 18-hole, 1,965-yard, par-3 course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The course is a collection of holes inspired by other Nicklaus-designed holes throughout the country. There are three sets of tees, tiered greens and a 65-yard hole with an island green. The longest hole is 173 yards.

Sherwood Country Club is a private golf, tennis and recreational club nestled within a canyon enhanced by views of hillsides, ancient oaks, rock formations and elevation changes.


MALIBU COUNTRY CLUB SOLD TO NEW OWNERS
The Tokyo Leisure Development Company has sold Malibu Country Club to Malibu Associates LLC for $34 million.
Malibu Country Club is a daily-fee facility designed in 1977 by the late William F. Bell. The Church of Perfect Liberty, founded in Japan in 1924, purchased the property in 1975. The church sold the property to Tokyo Leisure Development Company in 1988.
