STROKE OF THE DAY |
"Everyone has his own choking level, a level at which he fails to play his normal golf. As you get more experienced, your choking level rises." |

For 25 years, the La Quinta Resort Mountain Course has drawn rave reviews for its scenery and challenging Pete Dye layout. But players familiar with the Coachella Valley course will see substantial changes when revisiting the property. The changes, which include renovation of all 18 tee boxes, new turf on every green and new cart paths, were designed to preserve the course’s reputation and make it more challenging for low-handicap golfers while maintaining the playability for golfers of all skill levels. Pete Dye and his son, Perry, consulted on the reshaping of three greens and offered input on redesigned tee boxes on the second and 14th holes, as well as the new mountainside tees on the fifth and 16th holes. The course reopened in September after closing in the summer for the renovation project. The course is currently being overseeded and will reopen after Thanksgiving.
