Shorecliffs Golf Course, which has been a staple of the San Clemente community for over 50 years, is “one of the most unique, customer-friendly and affordable courses in the surrounding area,” said Director of Golf Taro Thomas. The Joe William layout is ideal for golfers who love the camaraderie and spirit of the game. A unique array of holes might throw a curveball or two to those playing their first round, but not to the point of being unfair. Shorecliffs’ greens are some of the smallest you’ll find anywhere. There isn’t much danger around them, so most misses generate feasible up-and-down opportunities. The par-5 first is a pertinent introduction, as a wide fairway bends sharply to the left and narrows drastically as it heads to the green. Another hole where precision is favored over distance is the short par-4 fifth, which features a picturesque tee shot to a landing area about 15 yards wide. Arguably the most memorable test at Shorecliffs is the par-3 13th, which plays longer than its listed length of 177 yards since it shoots straight uphill. It also looks tough from the tee since the green is guarded by hills and trees on each side. Besides the fun layout, what keeps players coming back to Shorecliffs is a range of specials, like the Early Bird Back Nine and Dine, Dawn Patrol and Unlimited Monthly Pass. Tee time deals also can be found on Click4TeeTimes.com. Shorecliffs is under new management and will have a grand re-opening with special rates on Saturday, April 11. |
