Readers' Choice Awards

Southland Golf's First Annual Readers' Choice Awards

You voted for the best in Southern California golf. And we listened.

The annual “Best Of” issue is one of our most exciting editions of the year. At the same time, compiling the list has always proven to be a challenge. How do you narrow down golf’s best in a region with so many amazing people and places?

This year, we tried a different approach.

We asked you, our loyal readers, to help us select the best in 10 categories related to all things golf in Southern California.

We received hundreds of submissions  — and the pages that follow represent your recommendations for the best course, scenery, experience, clubhouse, food and more throughout the Southland.

We couldn’t have done this without you, so take a few minutes to enjoy our first-ever Readers’ Choice Awards.

Readers Feedback:

Very nice, however for us non-wealthy golfers the only affordable one was the Birch Hills course(with Torrey Pines hard to get on except for SD residents). The other rated courses we might as well be high paying "Members Only"

I find your best of list full of the same old, same old. While Trump National is nice, the scenery from Los Vedes Golf course is as nice if not nicer and does not cost an arm and a leg. At $25.00 for the round, give me Los Verdes. Is it just me, or isn't funny how a lot of the winners are also heavy advertisers in your magazine? Just wondering? Brian Gray, Palm Desert, Ca. P.S. I see no desert courses, funny eh?

I must agree with comments I have read. The best seem to also mean the the expensive. Except for Birch Hills, I won't be enjoying any of them.

You need at least two more catagories -- "Best Public Course" and "Best Municipal Course". You may have repeats, but they ought to be included. I would vote for The Crossings in Carlsbad.
