Everything inside was gutted and rebuilt and expanded,” David Foster, chief operations officer of SunCoast Golf Inc., said about the renovation project. “We have brand new furniture, a new sports bar and grill, pro shop and special events area. Things were just getting old and we’ve really modernized it.” The renovation at the San Juan Capistrano facility began last September and finished in early April. Expanded to 10,000 square feet, the clubhouse now includes a banquet facility that can seat 250 people. There also is a 5,000-square-foot patio. “In the past, we couldn’t book some golf events due to space limitations, but no longer,” Foster said. Head professional Ray Ricardo is a big fan of the improvements. “It’s such a tremendous facelift,” Ricardo said. “I didn’t think I’d see something like this in my lifetime. For 20 years, every new owner has come in with the idea to change this or that, but SunCoast is the first to take the bull by the horns and get it done.” The new pro shop is “completely different and thoroughly professional now,” Ricardo said. “It supports customers with essentials for golf as well as an excellent selection of accessories. Plus, it has a great view of the first tee to ensure play on the course keeps moving smoothly.” Along with the new clubhouse, a new driving range and practice center was built in a facility across the street. It includes new irrigation, practice greens and a grill that offers full food and beverage service.
