So we feel that if you come to Roger Dunn, you’re coming to a place where people care about helping you play better. If you have an experienced person selling you a club, he can pick out things that are maybe holding you back.” And how does that help grow the game and keep people involved? “We feel that if a customer comes in and gets fit by one of our specialists, or finds something that improves their game, they are going to enjoy the game more and continue playing,” Phipps said. The Roger Dunn Superstore in Santa Ana is the chain’s largest — a 35,000-square-foot store that includes a large putting green and numerous hitting cages to try out clubs. Other products include apparel, instructional DVDs and golf gifts. Roger Dunn also is actively involved in the community, sponsoring several charity tournaments throughout the year, including events that help raise money for Hoag Hospital.
