Both city courses will offer summer junior camps for golfers 8–13 years old and an advanced camp for experienced junior and high school golfers. Each camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–noon and covers full swing, short game, golf etiquette, rules and course management. The Arroyo Trabuco Golf Academy offers a specially designed program for children 3-7 years of age to introduce them to the game in a safe and fun manner. Steven W. Soule, PGA director of instruction, heads the Black Gold Junior Golf Academy and teaches juniors the game of golf in a fun, safe environment. All aspects of the game are covered as each student starts at the beginner level and progresses through the advanced level. Instruction for beginners is held on Wednesdays, intermediate players on Thursdays and advanced players on Fridays. The fee of $100 per student includes four hours of golf instruction, with each session lasting 60 minutes.

The Fairway Kids Summer Camp (6-11 years old) is a weeklong course that starts in late June. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m., students take part in basic and advanced golf instruction, golf games, and on-course instruction, as well watch movies, play video arcade games, and go to the swimming pool. The fee is $349. Junior golfers between the ages of 12-17 will have camps starting on May 3 and running until June 22. The fee is $150 for eight sessions. Participants receive on-course instruction and video analysis, as well as competitive golf situations.

Open to juniors of all skill levels is the five-day junior golf program that runs July 14-18 and August 4-8. Due to the popularity of last year’s golf camps, San Juan Hills has added four more camps to its schedule. Each camp is held for an hour each day in a four-day span (Tuesday-Friday) and is specialized for beginning, intermediate and advanced players. Soboba Springs offers a junior membership program that includes free afternoon golf and discounted use of the driving range for $50 annually, with a $10 per month membership fee. Junior lessons from PGA professionals are currently offered at a 50-percent discount. Soboba Springs also is home to “Grandfathers For Golf,” a non-profit organization run by community grandfathers who teach underprivileged middle school children in the San Jacinto Valley.

For $100 per month, junior golfers between the ages of 7-17 can join The Junior Golf Academy at Woods Valley and attend up to 12 one-hour clinics per month held by PGA member David Mowery. The clinics are held Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5 p.m. Juniors enrolled in the academy can attend the Saturday clinic from 1-2 p.m. as well.
