Get in the groove

The design of Fourteen Golf’s MT-28 v4 wedges allow all players to spin it like a pro.

BY ERIC TRACYPublished: December, 2008

The grooves on Fourteen Golf’s new MT-28 v4 wedges are so sharp that even this 15-handicapper is backing up shots on the green.

The Japanese club manufacturer makes a full compliment of clubs, but its wedges are particularly popular on the Asian Tour. Making an impact in the United States might be around the corner through word of mouth.

“Those are great wedges,” said Los Serranos Country Club Tournament Director Ron Kramer as I walked to the practice area carrying a Fourteen wedge over my shoulder.

The MT-28 v4 line is as pretty as any forged nickel-chrome offering I’ve had in my hands, and the clubs have a terrific soft feel. The clubheads feature a reverse taper design that creates higher spin and better trajectory control. The wedges also promote backspin, which leads to straighter shots.

The MT-28 v4 is available in nine loft and bounce combinations.
