Online training is a good way to stay on track toward your fitness goals after personal sessions are completed.

BY MIKE HANSENPublished: February, 2006

Southland Golf’s editor and associate publisher, Eric Marson, is undergoing a six-month body transformation to improve his health and golf game. This is the final installment.

Eric Marson enters the final month of his body and golf makeover he’ll be prepped to continue the training routine on his own.

His personal sessions will be cut to twice a week with the hope that he does another on his own. To make sure that he stays true to his goals and doesn’t lose momentum, he’ll have an online training guide to provide him with the proper routine.

Online training is good for people who travel a lot or don’t have time to get to a gym. Exercise programs can be designed with your personal goals in mind, and many trainers who offer this service can provide aids such as exercise bands and stability balls.

Exercise bands fit in your suitcase when traveling, and stability balls are perfect for home use.

When choosing an online program, be sure to provide the trainer with your health history, available equipment and exercise programs you’ve performed in the past. Each exercise should be thoroughly explained, with illustrations, to ensure proper form.

Marson will be asked to submit his workout each week so I can follow the progress of his home workouts. I’ll update his program every two weeks to continue to challenge him to meet his goals.

Next month I’ll reduce his personal sessions to once a week and ask him to do two workouts on his own. When we both feel he is ready to work out on his own with no assistance, I’ll meet with him once a month to make sure we’re still on track to guarantee progress.
