![]() Mission Viejo Country Club is one of the most beautiful and challenging private courses in Orange County. That trend continues this year, with the second annual Summer Golf Classic on Monday, July 27 at Mission Viejo Country Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and open since 1967, Mission Viejo recently completed a $6 million renovation that was overseen by the Robert Trent Jones Design Company. The result is a lush layout that’s truer to the architect’s original vision and more attuned to the bar raised by modern golf technology. Mission Viejo features tree-lined fairways, classic runway tees that can stretch upwards of 100 yards, and some holes that are just downright difficult — after all, the southern Orange County venue is affectionately known as “Mission Impossible.” Challenge aside, the Summer Golf Classic is about fun. It’s a chance to play a non-competitive round with your buddies and not worry about gross or net scores. Plus, Mission Viejo is convenient to most areas of the Southland. The event, which will have a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m., has an entry fee of $150. The cost includes golf, lunch, beverages, post-round appetizers and the chance to win prizes like golf balls, equipment and rounds through on-course contests and a raffle. Players signing up also receive a $25 gift card valid at Roger Dunn Golf Shops or The Golf Mart.
