Applications are now available for 2012 Pro Kids membership. Youths ages 7 to 17 are welcome to join this unique organization dedicated to challenging kids through golf and education. The $100 annual fee gives participants access to golf and life skills classes as well as after-school tutoring, educational workshops and community service projects. Fee waivers are available for families who qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program. Parent orientations are generally offered the first three Saturdays of the month. Heather Wilson has worked all aspects of the golf business at Coronado Golf Course the last three years. Now she’s serving golfers as the new tournament director. Heather’s main goal is to ensure that every outing is a fun one. She is available to set up score cards, tee sheets, placards, prizes—just about everything needed for a successful tournament for up to 160 players. Tournaments can be booked up to one year in advance, and the course’s banquet facilities can accommodate up to 250 guests. Coronado is a fun, playable course located partially on the bay. San Vicente Golf Course is watered with 100 percent reclaimed water. Currently, there are two ponds that collect water throughout the year. Construction of another pond that will serve as an additional water source is in the works. The ponds provide more than the water necessary to keep the green in top shape, but also the “water hole” for the multitude of wildlife that visit San Vicente Golf Course.
