![]() Chi Chi Rodriguez. Glenn: You’ve stated that the grip is a power source. How do you position your left hand? Chi Chi: I like to see the “V” between my thumb and index finger point toward the inside of my right shoulder. This allows me to see three knuckles as I stand over the ball. Glenn: What about grip pressure? Chi Chi: I feel like I’m using 80 percent of my power to hold the club in the bottom three fingers of my left hand. I use only 20 percent with my right hand. Glenn: Any other grip tips? Chi Chi: For my right hand, the palm faces the target and I hold the club with my two middle fingers. The other fingers touch it in a relaxed fashion. Glenn: Could we say the little finger of the right hand is so gentle that it’s like a butterfly resting on a leaf? Chi Chi: Yes. As Sam Snead said, “Think you are holding a bird. You don’t want to hurt the bird, but you don’t want it to get away.” Your right wrist must remain fluid during the swing.
