One on One with Denis Watson

Denis Watson chats about staying cool under pressure with Glenn Monday.

BY GLENN MONDAYPublished: October, 2007

Los Angeles resident Denis Watson recently won a seven-man playoff at the Boeing Classic on the Champions Tour. It was the largest playoff in terms of players in the history of the senior circuit. That's a lot of pressure.

Glenn: What were your thoughts in that type of pressure situation?
Denis: I wanted to keep with my normal swing pace and I wanted to swing in balance.

Glenn: Any balance issues?
Denis: I feel that good golf posture is the first thing. You need to be centered over the ball right from the get-go.

Glenn: What are you working on as you practice?
Denis: I'm working on my tempo. I'm trying to feel the smooth rhythm of my swing.

Glenn: Do you have any other tips for our readers?
Denis: Yes — take the time to learn a good golf grip.
