WATCH A VIDEO TOUR![]() The Player Development Center provides golfers MATT technology and the chance to test their new clubs at Shadowridge. Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade has raised the bar in clubfitting and instruction by offering golfers a three-dimensional look at their swings. The Player Development Center at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista is the latest Southland venue to feature the system — and while its six high-speed cameras and 34 reflective markers are housed indoors, what separates the center from other sites is outside the doors. “Because we’re at a country club, we have access to the golf course,” said director of fitting Joey Farrow. “There’s an inherent limitation when you’re fitting indoors, but with us there’s no gap between the technology and the real thing.” The process enables golfers to go through the 3-D Motion Capture Fitting program with the option of purchasing a set of custom-fit TaylorMade clubs. (It doesn’t hurt that many TaylorMade-adidas employees, including CEO and president Mark King, are Shadowridge members). Players who choose to buy can then pick up their set, head to the range and practice facility to test them out, and even arrange to play at Shadowridge, one of the top private facilities in the area. Topping things off is the option of returning for lessons from a member of the Player Development Center’s staff. Aside from equipment and instruction, the facility is devoted to golf fitness and has state-of-the-art exercise equipment on hand. “This is definitely an exclusive experience,” Farrow said. Also, even though the technology is powered by TaylorMade, Farrow points out the results from a fitting are easily transferrable for other golf club manufacturers.
