![]() Bobby Gojunagco (right) with his dad, Robert, has honed his competitive skills with Future Champions Golf. “We feel we are a great training ground for all junior golfers to train, develop, and compete in tournaments and in junior specific instruction programs,” said Smeal. “We offer a great schedule of camps, clinics, and workshops, on top of the private lesson schedule that is available.” The program hosts 36- and 54-hole tournaments in California, Nevada, Texas and soon in Arizona. Marquee events include the San Diego Junior Masters (July 5-8 at Carlton Oaks Country Club and Colina Park Golf Course), the San Diego Junior Amateur and the FCG World Championship. “Our goal is to continue to develop the tournaments we currently host as well as continue to grow our teaching curriculum and structure to maximize growth in our students,” said Smeal. “Our tournaments will be held in four to six states in 2011 and we look to open new teaching centers around Southern California.” Many top junior golfers throughout Southern California have gravitated to FCG tournaments because of the circuit’s budding reputation as a competitive proving ground. One is 15-year-old Bobby Gojuangco, who epitomizes what Smeal considers not only a superb golfer, but also an excellent person. “Bobby is a great student and the nicest kid around with the best attitude and behavior I’ve ever seen,” said Smeal. “He is truly a golfer to model after.” Gojuangco has won three events in a row over the last few months, including the FCG Las Vegas Championship, the North County High School Conference Championship, and was a co-medalist at his first American Junior Golf Association event at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
