![]() Allenby thinks the two most important elements of a golf swing are rhythm and timing. Glenn Monday: What are you working on right now? Robert Allenby: My golf swing is simple. I try for good rhythm. GM: What else? RA: If you’ve got good rhythm, then you have good timing. I think these are the two most important things in a golf swing. Good timing leads to good shots, and good shots lead to low scores. GM: What advice would you give to those who are seeking out a teacher? RA: First, pick a good one. Then, listen to them and try to understand what they are trying to say. Find a coach that keeps it simple and doesn’t make it too difficult. I’ve had my coach for 17 years and we’ve done well together. GM: How has the average tour swing changed over the years? RA: I think the fundamentals have remained the same over a long period of time. The main difference is that today’s players are stronger physically. They are more fit, and that helps them to be mentally tougher. GM: What is the strength of your game, and what needs improvement? RA: My scoring average is very good, so I guess you could say I'm a good scrambler. I need to improve my putting just like everybody else.
