WATCH THE VIDEO HERE![]() Shifting your weight affords effortless power and is a source of consistency in ball striking. There are two parts to this. Weight should shift away from the target on the backswing and toward the target on the forward swing. The opposite — commonly known as the reverse pivot — occurs when your weight goes toward the target on the backswing. This is caused by excessively trying to keep your head down or body still or by starting with too much weight on the back leg at setup. To avoid the reverse pivot, perch on your lead leg at setup and allow yourself to move back on the backswing. Using that word association will help you in that regard.
