![]() A balanced finish will put you in position to do the "cool thing" (PHOTO: Eddie Meeks). Top professionals — most notably Tiger Woods — twirl their club when they know they’ve hit a good shot. Before copying this cool move at the finish, make sure your momentum takes you through to a tall finish, where you’re perched on your lead leg. Your body should be stable, upright and balanced, and you need to remain relaxed and calm. Cap off the swing by lowering your arms so they’re resting on your rib cage (Fig. 1). With your club perpendicular to the ground, you’re ready for the twirl. Allow the club to slip through your hands until the clubhead hits your fists (Fig. 2). You might even master twirling it as it’s dropping. Bob Madsen is PGA Director of Instruction at San Diego’s Sycuan Resort. For more information, call (888) 764-4566 or visit sycuanresort.com. |
