![]() Glenn Monday: As you were winning the U.S. Open, what were you thinking about on the back nine Sunday? Lucas Glover: I focused on target and execution. I knew my swing was working well, so I tried not to think too much. Throughout my career, I've worked on alignment to the target, so I was able to trust my swing. GM: What swing faults do you have to guard against? LG: My tempo occasionally will get a little off, which can lead to inconsistent ball flight. Good tempo and good rhythm help me to consistently repeat the same swing, and from that I get better timing. GM: How has your swing evolved since you were a junior golfer? LG: When I was growing up, it was a matter of getting my fundamentals right, and after that, I was all about getting the golf club on plane. Now, I try the best I can to stay on plane going back, coming down, and going through. GM: How important is head position? LG: I try not to go up or down — I want to think of my head as staying level. I want my nose to stay level to the ground. GM: What do you always work on? LG: I try not to let my body get ahead of my arms during the swing. I have to make sure I stay behind the ball at impact.
