![]() Michael Allen. Glenn: As you practice, what are you focused on? Michael: I try to feel good tempo and good rhythm. Glenn: Anything else? Michael: Yes, one of my big keys to better ball control and something I’ve been working a lot on is getting my clubface more square throughout the swing. Since 1995, I've worked on grooving the draw swing. Glenn: What did you change that helped you hit the draw? Michael: First, my grip was a little weak, so I dialed it a bit stronger than before. Second, I’m now placing my hands at the top of the backswing in a more solid position. Before, I felt that I had to manipulate to hit the ball. Now I hit a nice high draw. Glenn: Any tips to amateurs on how they can better control their swing plane? Michael: Learn the proper setup and then take the club back on a little bit of an inside track. The golf club wants to return on the same path as you take it away. Practice the same takeaway over and over to establish a groove. Also, try to maintain your spine angle throughout the swing.
