![]() Glenn: Can you put your finger on what goes wrong with a Tour player’s swing when they are under the gun? Peter: The danger is the player falls back into whatever poor tendencies he might fight on a regular basis. The most common is the player gets a little tight or quick. Glenn: How could they avoid folding? Peter: It is just a matter of trusting your routine. Many club players haven’t thought about a routine. Watch the top players. They go the same pace under pressure. Glenn: When you knew pressure was getting to you, how did you save your round? Peter: When you aren’t playing your best game, you have to manage it with a good short game and mental toughness. Glenn: Do you have a tip to help the average player when he is under pressure? Peter: Make sure the right side is relaxed before you put the swing in motion and make sure the left side is working properly. Glenn: My observation is that most players miss to the right under pressure. True? Peter: Yes, right-side tension delays timing.
