![]() Glenn Monday: If someone would give you a compliment on your swing, what would you like to hear? Tom Lehman: The biggest compliment would be that the swing is the same every time. GM: How could the average player learn to have a solid, repeating swing? TL: First do what is natural. It is hard to manufacture a golf swing and then make it repeat every time. I recommend that you learn the correct fundamentals and then do what feels natural to you within these fundamentals. Each golfer puts their own signature on the fundamentals. GM: Speaking of the fundamentals, what is the most important part or action of the golf swing? TL: I’d say stay centered during the swing. Keep your head steady. I’ve hit so many balls that I can feel the correct fundamentals as I swing. So what you feel is important. Again, top of the list, feel a steady head as you swing, avoid swaying. GM: What are your favorite shots? TL: I love to hit drives and then I’d say long irons. After that, I enjoy chipping. My weakness is 60- and 70-yard wedge shots. So I’m still trying to become better with that. Glenn Monday is an L.A. based Teaching Pro, and author of “Know Your Swing.” For more, visit mondaygolf.net. |
