![]() When deciding whether to lay up on a par 5 or go for it in two, think about having the same shot four times (PHOTO: Eddie Meeks). The next time you are faced with either an aggressive or conservative choice in your shot selection, make your decision like a touring professional. When the best players in the world are playing their practice rounds, they plan their shots and club selections around the fact that there are four rounds in the tournament. Therefore, many of the shots they will encounter four times. If the player feels he can pull off the aggressive shot at least three out of four times, then he goes for it. If the odds are less than that, he breaks the shot into two shots that are more manageable. So, the next time you’re faced with this dilemma, picture that you have four balls to play instead of just the one.
