In 2004 Forrest Blake was a four handicap. That is only a distant memory after a few short years of major golf improvement that has left him now a plus-two and winning SCGA qualifiers. A pair of 69s at Moreno Valley and Sterling Hills earned him medalists honors in both tournaments. The question is, how did he get so good so quick? "To be a consistent player under tournament pressure, your swing mechanics better be solid," Blake said. After trying every swing aid and working with several different instructors, Blake stumbled into a GolfTEC improvement center. "It is important that you find a way to get lessons that aren't window dressing," the 41-year-old golfer said. "When I started working with GolfTEC, I knew I now had the tools to make a major swing overhaul." An indoor teaching facility, GolfTEC uses digital video, impact analysis and motion-analysis to diagnose a golf swing. "It makes a difference when you can see a swing and begin to identify the good from the bad," Blake said. "I put in many hours refining my new swing. I was hooked. This game had drawn me into its arms and was holding tightly." As Blake's scores started to drop quickly, his interest in the business of GolfTEC escalated. "If you find something that works, especially in golf, buy the company," he said. So he did, purchasing five franchised stores in Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Rowland Heights, Long Beach and Valencia. Now his days are spent managing his staff of golf coaches and practicing and playing golf with his clients. "I consider myself a professional amateur," Blake said. "The concept of playing amateur golf while making a living in the golf business is a dream come true." For more information, visit golftec.com. |
