Prime time

With cooler weather and pristine playing conditions, the season has arrived for golf in the Coachella Valley.

Though the peak season for the Coachella Valley doesn’t start in earnest until February — when legions of snowbirds and out-of-state visitors descend on the greater Palm Springs region to take advantage of the incredible weather — local golfers can begin taking advantage of the area this month.

Most of the courses overseed shortly after the fallow summer months, which means that once November rolls around, they’re in top condition. And green fees, while higher than in the hot summer months, are still more affordable than peak season rates.

Along with the superior conditions, some golf courses in the area have finished major renovations to their facilities. And, some are gearing up for major events.

We cast a little bit of light on a few of these courses in the pages that follow in our Annual Desert Golf Issue.
