![]() Newport Coast's Pelican Hill Golf Club features one of the most opulent new clubhouses in the region (Photo: Courtesy of the Irvine Company). In the past few years, several clubhouses have been built on public golf courses in Southern California. While some have replaced older structures, others went up with a new course. The architecture is exquisite — from Mediterranean to Craftsman to what one architect describes as “Desert Modern.” And when it comes to amenities, builders didn’t skimp there, either. Pro shops, aptly renamed golf shops, have expanded to include non-golf clothing and special golf fitting areas. Fully equipped men’s and women’s locker rooms are complete with showers and saunas. And, square footage has surpassed more than 60,000, proving that to some, size does matter. Join us as we take a peek inside some of the region’s biggest and best clubhouses. We’ll also get a preview of one clubhouse that’s awaiting its finishing touches before opening next month.
