Journey at Pechanga

Temecula's newest course features a hip, modern clubhouse.

BY CATHERINE RISLINGPublished: March, 2009

Size:
62,000 square feet

Opened: November 2008

Building cost: Not available

Architect: Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker Architects

Style: Craftsman

The inside story: Journey’s End restaurant and lounge, 2,800-square-foot golf shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers, club and shoe repair, bag storage.

Most dynamic feature: Lanai-style doors lining the back of the restaurant’s dining room bring the outside in all
year round.

Wow factor: The entryway has unobstructed views of the golf course thanks to an expanse of 40-foot windows. What also makes it spectacular is a 40-foot water feature, a rock wall fireplace, stone-and-glass walls and copper artwork and accents.

In their words: “I hand-picked the best elements from clubhouses like Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona and hotels like the Inn at Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach and the Mauna Lani Resort in Hawaii and incorporated them into the clubhouse,” PGA Director of Golf Andrew Miranda said. “The sunken bar is especially one of my favorite features.”
