The Crossings at Carlsbad

The restaurant has become as renowned as the golf course.

BY CATHERINE RISLINGPublished: March, 2009

Size:
28,000 square feet

Opened: September 2007

Building cost: $7.5 million

Architect: Douglas Fredrikson Architects

Style: Modern Craftsman

The inside story: Canyons restaurant, banquet and private meeting rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers.

Most dynamic feature: For a public course, the clubhouse architecture is spectacular. Rich walnut panels, oversized beams and two rotundas make the clubhouse feel like a private club.

Wow factor: Panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from just about any location in the clubhouse.

In their words: “We really saw the success of our food and beverage services take off when we opened the restaurant,” PGA General Manager Jeff Perry said. “Ninety percent of our restaurant guests are non-golfers; we offer so many things outside of golf. The clubhouse is a true community amenity.”
