Jeffrey Kang of Fullerton won the boys flight in the West Junior Open Thursday at Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the final round to finish one stroke ahead of San Diego’s Todd Baek. Jessica Vasilic of Anaheim Hills shot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round to come from eight shots back and win the girls division.
Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the West Junior Open was a 54-hole stroke play event held on the Valley Course at Robinson Ranch. The tournament field featured 72 boys and 27 girls ages 12-18.
Robin Jang of Los Angeles and Alexander Forss of Temecula tied for third with three-day totals of 1-under-par 215. Jordan Lee of Tarzana finished in fifth with a three-day total of even-par 216.
In the girls division, Stacy Kim of Yorba Linda finished second with a three-day total of 9-over-par 225. Tying for third were Jennifer Hahn of Henderson, Nev., Anne Cheng of Torrance and Monica Petchakan of Encino with totals of 11-over-par 227.
