American Golf has grown significantly over the past 38 years and has considerably helped grow the game of golf. The Santa Monica-based company currently manages more than 110 public and private courses across the country, including nearly 50 in Southern California. American Golf’s 34 public facilities in the region range from municipal courses such as San Diego’s Chula Vista Golf Course to high-end courses such as Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton. Golfers can find specials and book tee times, even for the same day, at dozens of courses simply by visiting americangolf.com. The company offers several different public memberships, including the Southern California Golfers Club, which offers reduced greens fees at 19 courses in the region, as well as other perks. The annual membership fee is $49.95. American Golf also has established the American Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the game and its ideals through charity, education and service to the community. In addition, American Golf operates learning centers at numerous courses designed to reach new, novice and intermediate players, with an emphasis on junior golf with its Learning Centers and Nike Summer Camps. Though the company has gone through many phases, including a restructuring and ownership change earlier this decade, its commitment to making the game accessible and user-friendly has not wavered.
