Jonathan Sanders of Chatsworth and Esther Lee of Los Alamitos won their respective divisions at the American Junior Golf Association's Emerson Junior Golf Classic, which was held August 24-26 at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. Sanders finished the 54-hole stroke-play event tied with Beau Hossler at 4-under-par 212. On the first sudden-death playoff hole, Sanders seized the title with a six-foot birdie putt against the Rancho Santa Margarita resident. San Diego's Byron Meth posted a 3-under-par 69 in the final round to climb into third place overall at 1-under 215, while Matthew Negri of El Cajon was one of two golfers finishing in fourth place at even par. On the girls side, Esther Lee surged to victory with a 5-under-par 67 in the final round, tying the women's course record at Maderas. Her 5-under 211 total for the event was eight shots clear of Brea resident Amy Lee, and Rancho Cucamonga's Gabriella Then finished third at 5-over par. For complete results, visit the AJGA website.
