Amy Mickelson, the wife of 36-time PGA Tour winner Phil Miclelson, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. A release from Gaylord Sports, Phil Mickelson’s management company, says more tests are scheduled for Amy and “the treatment process is expected to begin with major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks.” Phil Mickelson has suspended his PGA Tour competitive schedule indefinitely. He was slated to play in this week’s HP Byron Nelson Championship and defend his title at next week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. It remains to be seen if he will compete in the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black in New York, slated for June 18-21. Phil and Amy were married in 1996 and have three children: Amanda, 9, Sophia, 7, and Evan, 6. |
