Golf Channel’s “Big Break” reality game show series returns for a new season beginning Monday, June 21 at Sandals Emerald Bay in Great Exuma, Bahamas.

Three Southern Californians — Ryann O’Toole (San Clemente), Elena Robles (Redondo Beach) and Maiya Tanaka  (San Diego) — are among 11 women vying for LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour tournament exemptions along with many other prizes.

The 23-year-old O’Toole, the show’s youngest competitor, won her first professional tournament in May at the Duramed Futures Tour’s Mercedes Benz of Kansas City Championship. She was previously a member of the UCLA women’s golf team.

So was Tanaka, who walked on the team in 2007. A product of San Diego’s Pro Kids Golf Academy, is currently living out of her car and competes on four professional tours.

Robles, 26, is known to have a diligent work ethic and volatile emotions on the golf course.

“Big Break” pits golfers against each other in a variety of skill challenges. During this season, one contestant will be eliminated each week, with the last player standing garnering exemptions and other prizes.

Past champions have competed on some of the world’s top professional circuits, including the PGA, Champions, European, and Nationwide Tours.

Several previous female contestants have gone on to compete on the LPGA Tour, including Kristy McPherson, a member of the 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
