![]() (PHOTO: Stockbyte/Getty Images) A blind date on a golf course did the trick. “By the end of the round, I knew I’d marry him,” said Forrest, 29, who found more than her future husband that day. She also discovered that golf is a great barometer for determining a perfect match. So she left her day job and took a leap of faith and started Time For Nine, a dating service that unites people through a friendly game of golf. “Golf is the best way to get to know someone,” said Forrest, who tied the knot with her golf partner, Nathan, two years ago. “You can learn quickly someone’s nuances — whether they’re a risk-taker, have a bad temper, are uptight, have a sense of humor, are competitive or honest.” Forrest and her team screen applicants and administer a compatibility questionnaire she developed with marriage and family counselors. Clients are educated, professional and “salt of the earth” individuals, she said. Most live in Orange and Los Angeles counties, with an increasing number from San Diego. Besides the desire to help others find someone special, Forrest encourages clients to dig below the surface. “Sometimes people aren’t sure of what they want,” she said. “Sometimes it takes a little more insight to point them in the right direction. Nine holes of golf can provide that.” For more information, visit timefornine.com. |
