PGA Tour player Hunter Mahan has partnered with the Folds of Honor Foundation to support military families through the Foundation's flagship fundraiser, Patriot Golf Day. Mahan will donate a percentage of his winnings and wear the Folds of Honor logo on his hat during this week's Deutsche Bank Championship to increase awareness for Patriot Golf Day, which will take place the same weekend, September 4-7. Efforts will be made all weekend to encourage participation at over 5,000 golf facilities nationwide and generate donations to provide scholarships to the spouses and children of our wounded and fallen military service men and women. "Supporting our soldiers is something I take very seriously," says Mahan, an Orange native. "Over the past few years, my family and I have donated significant amounts of time, energy, and money through different initiatives to help our soldiers and their families. After meeting Dan Rooney and learning about the Folds of Honor Foundation and Patriot Golf Day, I jumped at the opportunity to get involved. My goal is to raise both awareness and a lot of money for the Patriot Golf Day initiative, and I hope golfers all over the country will join me in supporting this great cause." Mahan has five top-10 finishes this year and is 14th in FedEx Cup points heading into this week. Boo Weekley, 2009 U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover, Brandt Snedeker, and other Tour players also will generate awareness for Patriot Golf Day by wearing a red, white and blue ribbon this weekend in support of the cause. "We are excited to have high-profile professionals participate in Patriot Golf Day," says Folds of Honor Foundation founder and CEO, Major Dan Rooney. The Deutsche Bank Championship will be broadcast live on NBC and the Golf Channel.
