For fans seeking to get a unique, behind-the-scenes view of the inaugural LPGA Classic Presented by J Golf, there’s no better way to do so than by serving as a tournament volunteer. The LPGA Classic Presented by J Golf, to be held March 22-28 at La Costa Resort and Spa, is seeking up to 600 volunteers. Volunteer efforts are critical to the operation of the tournament and allow it to donate significant funds to local charities. Prospective volunteers can register and find descriptions of all available volunteer committees via the tournament’s official website, lpgalacosta.com, or by calling tournament coordinator Danielle Genet in the tournament office at (760) 579-7365. The $1.7 million LPGA Classic Presented by J Golf is a full-field, 144-player event that will bring the best names in women’s golf — including Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie, Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer — to La Costa. Volunteers are required to work a minimum of three days (shifts between four and five hours each) during tournament week. The volunteer package costs $50 per person, but is valued at more than $300. Volunteers will receive: • One round of golf at La Costa Resort & Spa (minimum of four volunteer shifts required for this benefit) • Two weekly grounds passes (for family and friends) • One weekly volunteer badge (provides grounds access throughout tournament week for all time when not scheduled to volunteer) • Official tournament golf shirt • Official tournament hat or visor • One lunch voucher for each day worked • Official tournament pin • Official tournament lanyard • Official tournament drawstring bag Extra tournament golf shirts will be available for purchase at $30 each, and official tournament wind jackets will be available for purchase at $45 each.
