The LPGA Tour’s inaugural Kia Classic presented by J Golf has moved closer to completing its 144-player field with the announcement of its final two sponsor exemptions — KLPGA Tour sensation Hee Kyung Seo and Irvine resident Victoria Park. The 23-year-old Seo, ranked No. 37 in the world, brings a unique combination of skill and glamour to the golf course. Nicknamed the “Supermodel of the Fairways,” Seo is the reigning KLPGA Player of the Year who also won the 2009 KLPGA money and scoring average titles. Turning professional in 2005 and joining the KLPGA in 2006, Seo won six KLPGA events in 2009 and five in 2008. Her best finish on the LPGA came last year when she tied for 15th at the Kolon-Hana Bank Championship and the SBS Open. Park, an 18-year-old freshman at Oklahoma State, will make her LPGA Tour debut at the Kia Classic. In 2008, she was a second-team AJGA All-American after winning the Ping Phoenix Junior event and placing fourth at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Park was an honorable mention AJGA All-American in 2006 and 2009, and she competed in the Canon Cup in 2008 and 2009. Born in Choongjoo, South Korea, Park comes from athletic bloodlines, as her mother earned South Korea’s first Olympic gold medal in 1984, in archery, before her father won a Gold medal in judo at the 1986 Asian Games. Seo and Park join Rancho Bernardo native Tiffany Joh as tournament sponsor exemptions. The Kia Classic presented by J Golf boasts the top 66 players from the 2009 LPGA Official Money List and the top 14 (and 26 of the top 30) players in the Rolex Golf Rankings, including World No. 3 Ai Miyazato, who has won the LPGA’s first two events in 2010.
