Austin Graham wins Long Beach Men's City Championship

Graham scorches field by eight shots after 18-under-par 198.

Austin Graham of San Clemente won the Long Beach Men's City Championship last weekend by annihilating the rest of the field by eight shots. Graham, competing in the Championship Flight, recorded an 18-under-par 198 for the 54 hole event after rounds of 62-65-71. His nearest challengers were Bakersfield's Pete Fernandez Jr., Lou Carrasco Jr. (Tustin) and Andrew Kramer (Chino Hills) who all carded 10-under-par 206s. Buddy Duncan of Rancho Santa Fe rounded out the top five with rounds of 72-69-69.

The event took place July 10-12 at El Dorado Park Golf Course, Skylinks Golf Course and Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach.

A Flight winner Jeremy Evans of Los Alamitos needed two playoff holes to take down runner-up Bennett Allen (Huntington Beach). The men had tied for first at 227. Mike Maxwell (Cerritos) and Ben Lee (Los Angeles) tied for third at 229, while Downey's Armando Silva finished in fifth place at 230.

B Flight champion Sean Barbosa of Torrance (225) won by four shots over Hawthorne's Aaron Paris after carding the flight's only under-par round of the championship, a 1-under-par 71 on Sunday.

Chase Nicolai of Long Beach won the C Flight by seven shots after carding a 226. Runner-up Timothy Kelley (Hermosa Beach) in turn bested third-place finisher Art Nakagawa (Los Angeles) by seven shots.

In the D Flight, Fernando Ramirez of West Covina finished at 245 and was victorious over George Manyak (Long Beach) and Paul Nicodemus (Cypress) who tied for second at 248.

John Sousa of Long Beach bested Bob Costa (Desert Hot Springs) by two shots to win the E Flight. Sousa finished with a 253, while Costa shot 255.

Huntington Beach's Nick Eliades won F Flight by five shots after turning in rounds of 90-87-84 for a 261 total. Runner-up John Surge (Long Beach) finished at 266.
