Marbella to host Special Olympics benefit

Tourney to benefit handicapped veterans also scheduled.

Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano will be the host course for the eighth annual Columbus Day Drive for Special Olympics, an Oct. 10 shotgun-style golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics Orange County.

The $250 entry fee includes play on the usually private Tom Weiskopf-designed championship course, a cart, access to the driving range, tee prizes, lunch, reception and dinner. Live and silent auctions also will be held.

Tickets for the benefit dinner alone are $50 per person.

During the day, a putting contest and a drawing for a $100,000 hole-in-one shootout will be held. Golfers also will receive complimentary margaritas and a Cleveland Golf gift bag.

Swing for Par Golf Academy will sponsor a Veterans Day golf tournament to benefit handicapped veterans Nov. 12 at Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach. Fee is $85 per player and the entry deadline is Oct. 31.
