NCAA Division-I Men’s Golf Championships coming to Riviera Country Club in 2012

Event to be hosted by USC.

BY ELI MILLERPublished: June, 2010

The best male collegiate golfers will vie for the national championship at Riviera in 2012.
The NCAA has announced the 2012 NCAA Division-I Men’s Golf Championships will be held at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.

The annual site of the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open, Riviera also has welcomed premier events such as the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Senior Open.

USC will serve as the host university for the tournament, which will take place from May 29-June 3.

“All of the teams that compete to win a championship are trying to prepare their players for the next level, and there is no better way than to do this on championship venues,” USC director of golf Kurt Schuette told Golfweek. “It seems to be tougher for us out West to get a championship site, and we are just thrilled that Riviera Country Club wanted to and allowed us to host.”

This is the second time in the last year that a major amateur event has been scheduled to come to Los Angeles in the future. Last year, the USGA announced the 2017 Walker Cup matches would be held on the North Course at Los Angeles Country Club.
