Nicole Castrale and Mikaela Parmlid, both former standouts on the USC women’s golf team, finished in a four-way tie for eighth place at the LPGA Tour’s Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Sylvania, Ohio Sunday. Castrale, a Palm Desert resident, posted a pair of 4-under-par 67s on the weekend at Highland Meadows Golf Club en route to a 14-under total. She finished four shots behind Eunjung Yi and Morgan Pressel, who tied for the lead at the end of regulation. Yi won the tournament with a birdie on the first sudden-death playoff hole. Parmlid, whose previous career-best finish was a tie for ninth on two occasions, bettered that by a single spot over the weekend. The Swede vaulted into contention with a personal-best 9-under-par 62 in Saturday’s third round. Each player now has a pair of top-10 finishes this year. Castrale finished tied for fifth at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship last month. Castrale graduated from USC in 2001 and Parmlid graduated in 2003. For full results, visit LPGA.com. |
