The Laguna Niguel native, who is a rookie on the PGA Tour this year, has taken the place of Ron Skayhan for Sunday’s fourth round of the Bob Hope Classic. Skayhan withdrew after Saturday's third round with a heel injury. Tringale, who didn't make the Hope field as the fourth alternate, was asked by Tour officials to fill in as the professional member for the pro-am team Skayhan would have been a part of. Tringale's round won’t constitute an official appearance — he won’t receive any prize money, nor will his stats be counted for the season. In effect, it will be a practice round on the Palmer Private course at PGA West, although he has the opportunity to help the fortunes of an amateur team that includes American Olympic skier Toby Dawson and actor Ron Perlman. Skayhan, a 49-year-old PGA professional at Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles, qualified for the 2010 Bob Hope Classic after winning the 2009 Southern California PGA Championship at Lakeside’s Barona Creek Golf Club. He shot rounds of 71-75-78 at the Hope before withdrawing. Tringale graduated from Georgia Tech University last May as a three-time All-American on the men’s golf team. The 22-year-old earned full-time member status on the 2010 PGA Tour by finishing tied for 19th in the final stage of Qualifying School. He missed the cut in his first Tour appearance of the year, shooting 2-over par in 36 holes at the Sony Open. Check back today and tomorrow for more coverage of the Bob Hope Classic.
